"memos" is a long-distance collaborative project between Tyler Simms and Austin Robb.
In 2010, Austin (from Coeur d' Alene, Idaho) and Tyler (from Portland, Oregon) met in Spokane, WA while attending SFCC's Audio Engineering Technical Program. There, they developed their skills in music production. After graduating from the program in June of 2012, Austin stayed in Coeur d' Alene and Tyler moved back to Portland. In January, 2013, Tyler and Austin decided to help each other with a couple of unfinished songs they each had begun to work on, but left sitting on the shelf for some time. From there, the project seemed to explode.
Memos is an album formed in the wake in which a dream was begun. Tyler Simms, Gabe Droptiny, and Chase Kendall formed a punk-pop band together in a year-long drug rehabilitation program in 2006. Hopes were high and dreams were big but the flesh is weak. With only a glimpse of what they could become together as a musical act, the reality shattered. Gabe, bass vocals, and percussion; and Chase, drums and vocals; are both now deceased from heroin related traumas.
Memos, is the heart in the aftermath of such tragedy.
